The Family Business

Organising the entirety of our collective knowledge while emphasising the sanctity of family as a driving force for human progress and longevity.

We record a family’s history from its elders, map it to the places that shaped it, and keep it growing across generations.

Our mission

Every family has a story worth keeping. We make sure it is kept, shared and built on.

We began with our own family, the Corbetts, and built a method any family can follow: listen to the elders, place every person on the map, and invite everyone in to add what they know.

Why it matters

A family’s history lives in its elders, and is rarely recorded in time.

Memory is scattered

Stories, photographs and places sit with different relatives, often in different countries, in no shared form.

No one owns the job

Everyone means to sit down with the grandparents. Life gets in the way until it is too late.

Trees stop at names

Genealogy records who and when. It misses why it mattered and what it means to the family today.

What we do

We turn a family’s memory into a living, shared inheritance.

Elder interviews

We sit with the older generation and record the family’s story in their own words.

People and places

Every person is mapped to the places that shaped them, from villages to houses to journeys.

The tap

Relatives are invited in to add their own memories, correct details and uncover deeper meaning.

Crest and assets

A family crest of its own, and a home for the family’s shared assets.

Family games

Gatherings that bring the generations together, up to a family Olympics.

How it works

From the first conversation to an archive that keeps growing.

  1. 1

    Listen

Recorded interviews with the elders, guided by our method.

  2. 2

    Map

People, places and stories laid out as one family map.

  3. 3

    Tap

Each relative is invited in to add, correct and deepen it.

  4. 4

    Gather

The crest, family objects and gatherings keep the story alive.

The family map

Every person, every place, one living map.

  • Elders interviewed. The story starts with them.
  • Relatives tapped in. Adding their own memories.
  • Still to invite. The map keeps growing.

Each person is linked to the places that shaped them.

The family crest

Every family receives its own crest.

It is drawn from what the interviews uncover: the places, animals and values that define a family, sealed with a motto the family chooses. It becomes the family’s mark on its book, its objects and its gatherings.

The platform

Every family begins with its name.

On the web and on your phone, the platform guides a family from a single surname to a complete, shared archive.

  • Discover the origins, journeys and symbols behind a name.
  • Integrated with Ancestry.com to bring in the records a family already has.
  • Invite relatives to add what they know.
  • Keep the archive safe for the next generation.
